My name is Teksong Ly ( Lee )

I migrated to Australia in 2004 from Phnom Penh, Cambodia, with limited English, no clear direction and no connections. Like many migrants, I started from the ground up by working hard, learning as I went and doing whatever it took to build a better life.

For over 10 years, I worked as a warehouse laborer. Life was stable but I was not progressing.

In August 2016, just before my daughter was born, everything changed. I suffered a serious ankle injury that left me unable to work for nearly five months. During that time, our family relied solely on Centrelink.

After recovering, I knew I couldn’t stay in the same position. I took on two jobs just to support my family.

Then in 2019, a simple question changed everything: “Why don’t you buy an investment property?”

On 16 October 2019, we settled on our first investment property. That single decision changed the direction of our lives.
